How to get ready for a branding photoshoot?
A branding photoshoot is a crucial aspect of establishing your professional image and conveying your brand's essence to your target audience. To ensure a successful session, thorough preparation is vital. Here are some steps you can take to get ready for a branding photoshoot and create a comprehensive list of your needs for the professional photographer:
# Step 1: Define Your Brand Identity and Objectives
Before diving into the logistics of the photoshoot, take the time to clearly articulate your brand identity and objectives. Consider your target audience, your brand's values and personality, and the message you want to convey through the photos. This clarity will guide your decision-making throughout the process and help the photographer understand your vision.
# Step 2: Research and Select a Professional Photographer
Finding the right professional photographer is essential for capturing your brand's essence. Seek recommendations, review portfolios, and assess their experience working with similar brands. Ensure their style aligns with your vision, and schedule an initial consultation to discuss your ideas, goals, and logistical details.
# Step 3: Develop a Mood Board and Creative Brief
Create a shot list that outlines the specific images and poses you desire for your branding photos. This list should include different angles, locations, props, and wardrobe options. Collaborate with your photographer to finalize the shot list and establish a mutual understanding of what you hope to achieve.
Additionally, provide a detailed creative brief to your photographer, explaining your brand's story, values, and aesthetics. This will inspire their creative process and enable them to capture the essence of your brand effectively. Creating a mood board can help you to decide many aspects of the photoshoot: you can visualise the styling, props you will need, palate colour, etc.
# Step 4: Plan Your Wardrobe and Styling
Choose outfits that align with your brand's identity and target audience. Consider the color palette, textures, and styles that best represent your brand. Avoid busy patterns or logos that may distract from your message. Ensure that your clothing is clean, well-ironed, and fits properly. Don't forget to plan accessories, from shoes to jewelry, that enhance your overall look. If required, hire a professional stylist to ensure your appearance is impeccable and consistent with your brand's image. For the boss ladies, don’t forget on contracting a professional make up artist and have your hair done, it makes a huge difference on the final results.
# Step 5: Prepare Your Location and Props
Evaluate whether you want an indoor or outdoor shoot to complement your brand. If using a specific location, obtain necessary permissions and ensure it aligns with your brand identity. Consider the props required to enhance the shoot's aesthetic, such as products, office elements, or relevant items that symbol
# Step 6: Create a list of content and write your goals
It is important that you stop and think what are your goals with the photoshoot if it is to create images for your website, social medias or another platform, each platform has an format or even on your website you need some images horizontal or vertical, so it’s important you to create a list of images that you need and the format. Remember, the photographer is not a specialist on your business it is a specialist on creating images with the information you provide.
Get inspired by the branding images that we created for Nova Clinics and their briefing
Nova Clinics has a professional and friendly approach, they like to treat their clients with care.
For the head shots we decide to use some elements and they asked to have it in a white backdrop, all in a vertical format.
They also want some photos of the team together to show their connection. Then we use the clinic reception as a backdrop.
Some shots of the space to be used on the website and social medias.
Also some shots of the treatments (they created a list of the treatments, organising the time with each professional and model) in their list some action shots and detailed shots. In four hours we had it all done. And next day they were receiving their shots.
We also created some video contents one institutional video and some other with the treatments. Check it all below, and let me know if know it’s easier for you to create your content before the photoshoot.
